2/11/19 ASHLAND, Ohio – Dr. Dean Goon, who had served as assistant vice president of innovative education and associate professor of education at Mount Vernon Nazarene University, has been named as dean of Ashland University’s College of Online and Adult Studies. He began in that role on Feb. 11.
As dean of the College of Online and Adult Studies, Goon will lead a team of more than 20 employees to provide strategic direction and evaluation of online and non-traditional education modalities for both credit and non-credit bearing courses for Ashland University.
Goon had been employed at Mount Vernon Nazarene University for the past seven years and served as director of instructional technology and assistant professor of education, then director of innovative education and associate professor of education, and most recently assistant vice president of innovative education and associate professor of education.
Goon also has been an educational consultant and workshop facilitator for Makeadent Educational Solutions for the past seven years. He was recently selected to the Fulbright Specialist program through the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, and World Learning.
He served as an adjunct instructor at AU from 2008 to 2011 and as a professional development coordinator for TRECA in Marion, Ohio, from 2008 to 2011. He was a middle level educator for Marion City Schools from 1994 to 2002 and a STEM educator in Marion City Schools from 2002 to 2008.
Goon has an Ed.D. in teaching and learning from Liberty University, an M.A. in teaching and learning from Ohio State University and a B.S. in elementary education from Ohio State University. He serves as chairman of The Executive Board at Great River Connections Academy and is on the board of directors for Ohio Connections Academy.
