Dr. JoAnn Ford Watson, H. R. Gill Family Professor of Theology and Spiritual Formation at Ashland Theological Seminary, was recently inducted into the Hall of Fame of the International Biographical Centre of Cambridge, England by the Director General Nicholas Law and the worldwide research and selection committee.
Watson was recognized for her achievement in the field of theological education in the academic and church community in the USA and United Kingdom.
Being the first woman tenured as a full professor at Ashland Theological Seminary, Watson has taught for over 30 years and served as department chair and received several teaching and mentoring awards.
She has published 13 books and numerous articles in theological studies. Of particular note is her publication of the 7 volume set of the Selected Spiritual Writings of Anne Dutton: 18th Century British Baptist Woman Theologian with Mercer University Press (2003-2015).
Watson is recognized for her pastoral contributions as an ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church USA, serving pastorates, being in the Presbyterian Women in Leadership Association, and serving on the Board of the International Association of Women Ministers.
She is active in the International Henri Nouwen Society and American Academy of Religion. She has been a missionary volunteer with Mother Teresa and the Missionaries of Charity in Calcutta, India. She continues to be active in the First Presbyterian Church of Ashland and currently serves as President of the Ashland Symphony Orchestra Board of Directors.
