Ashland University College of Arts and Sciences to Host Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity Symposium

3/13/11 ASHLAND, OH -- Ashland University's College of Arts and Sciences is hosting an Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity Symposium that will feature the works of more than 65 students from 14 departments in the College.

According to Dr. Andrew Greene, assistant professor of biology/toxicology, the March 30 symposium, which is free and open to the public, will be held from 8:45 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. in Myers Convocation Center. The symposium will feature oral presentations, performances, poster presentations and art exhibitions.

Local Resident and Ashland University Field and Internship Supervisor Receives National Award

3/9/11 ASHLAND, OH -- Ken Packard, a resident of Glenmont and a field and internship supervisor with Ashland University's Dwight Schar College of Education, has received a national award from the Association of Teacher Educators.

Packard received the "Distinguished Clinician Award" as the No. 1 supervisor in the United States on Feb. 15 at the national conference of the Association of Teacher Educators held in Orlando, Fla.

Ashland University Environmental Lecture Series to Focus on Invasive Species

3/8/11 ASHLAND, OH -- Ashland University's 2010-2011 Environmental Lecture Series on "Invasive Species" will continue on March 24 when Dr. Teresa Culley, associate professor of biology at the University of Cincinnati, will speak at 7:30 p.m. in the Hawkins-Conard Student Center Auditorium.

This is the third lecture of the series and is free and open to the public.

Ashland University Seniors Conclude College Careers with Performances

3/8/11 ASHLAND, OH -- Several Ashland University seniors from the College of Arts & Sciences will seal their college careers this month with their final performances on campus. From Melissa Booth Fleming's senior recital to two senior theatre projects involving a musical and a staged-reading of an original play, all performances are free and open to the public.

Ashland University to Host Ashbrook Colloquium on 'The Closing of the Muslim Mind'

3/7/11 ASHLAND, OH -- The Ashbrook Center at Ashland University will host a March 25 colloquium on "The Closing of the Muslim Mind" presented by Robert Reilly, senior fellow at the American Foreign Policy Council.

Ashland University Singers Compete Successfully at Great Lakes Regional NATS

3/7/11 ASHLAND, OH -- Last week several vocal students from Ashland University's Department of Music participated in the National Association of Teachers of Singing's (NATS) Great Lakes Regional Student Auditions at Bowling Green State University.

While all of the Ashland University students received complimentary and useful comments about their singing, the following students placed in their categories:

Ashland University Juried Student Art Exhibition Set

3/7/11 ASHLAND, OH -- The Ashland University Juried Student Art Exhibition opens Thursday, March 17, in the Coburn Gallery with a reception to be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

This exhibition will offer $1,300 in awards to student artists, including Best in Show, Everett S. Caldemeyer Award, Provost Award, People's Choice Award and awards in each of the six art areas: painting, printmaking, sculpture, digital media, drawing and ceramics. The awards ceremony will begin at 5 p.m.
