Ashland University Chemistry Professor Study Confirms Inexpensive Jewelry Can Release High Levels of Dangerous Cadmium When Children Mouth or Swallow Items

3/4/11 ASHLAND, OH -- Young children who mouth or swallow jewelry containing cadmium may be exposed to as much as 100 times the recommended maximum exposure limit for the toxic metal, according to research published online March 4 ahead of print in the peer-reviewed journal Environmental Health Perspectives (EHP).

Ashland University Bookstore Develops American Girl Club; Event Set

3/3/11 ASHLAND, OH -- The Ashland University Bookstore is inviting students and community members to be a part of its new American Girl Club.

On Friday, March 18, the bookstore is hosting an American Girl Pajama Party from 6 to 8 p.m. The American Girl Pajama Party will feature food, refreshments, stories and activities and participants are encouraged to bring their dolls. The event is free and open to the public. The bookstore is located in the Hawkins-Conard Student Center on the Ashland University campus.

Ashland University and Ashland High School to Sponsor College Night

2/28/11 ASHLAND, OH -- Ashland University and Ashland High School have teamed up to sponsor the Ashland Regional High School College Night. The event, which is intended for all high school sophomores, juniors and seniors who are thinking about attending college and their parents, is set for March 10 at 6:30 to 8 p.m. in Ashland University's Myers Convocation Center.

Ashland University Psychology Colloquium Set for March 15

2/28/11 ASHLAND, OH -- Dr. Bob Weis, associate professor of psychology at Denison University and author of the textbook "Introduction to Abnormal Child and Adolescent Psychology," will be speaking on the Ashland University campus on March 15.

Weis will present a colloquium titled "Identifying Learning Disabilities in Adults: New Approaches and Controversies" at 7 p.m. in the Ronk Lecture Hall in the Schar College of Education. The colloquium is free and open to the public.

Ashland University's Tom Seddon Announces Retirement

2/24/11 ASHLAND, OH -- Tom Seddon, vice president of development for Ashland University, has announced his retirement from Ashland University effective Feb. 23.

"Tom and Jackie have been a key part of our University family and they will be missed. Tom has provided strong leadership for our development efforts over these last 3½ years," stated Ashland University President Fred Finks.
