Shelter Dog Captures Role In Ashland University Theatre Production

9/28/10 ASHLAND, OH -- From stray to star, Lola from the Ashland County Dog Shelter is currently in rehearsals for her first role on stage with the Ashland University Theatre's upcoming production of Steinbeck's classic "Of Mice and Men" scheduled for Oct. 15 to 24 in Hugo Young Theatre.

In an effort to fill the special role of Candy's dog in the theatre production, Ashland University Theatre contacted several local veterinarians and rescue organizations for suggestions. After auditioning several prospects, Lola was the perfect fit.

Ashland University Names Annual Fund Chair

9/22/10 ASHLAND, OH -- Ashland University has named Ashland resident Matt Miller as the national chair for the 2010-2011 Ashland University Annual Fund Campaign.

The Ashland University Annual Fund provides scholarships and financial aid for students, enhances programs and facilities, improves library acquisitions and supports faculty development. As national chair, Miller will be the spokesperson for the Annual Fund throughout the year.

Ashland University Theatre's Drop of a Hat Players Now Accepting Bookings

9/20/10 ASHLAND, OH -- Ashland University Theatre's Drop of a Hat Players, a traveling musical revue troupe, is accepting bookings for the 2010-2011 season. Performing classic and contemporary Broadway show tunes with a pianist, the troupe is available to perform at banquets, meetings, parties, civic group engagements or other special events from October through April.

Ashland University's Center for Nonviolence to Show Documentary Film

9/19/10 ASHLAND, OH -- "Little Town of Bethlehem," a documentary film focused on the lives of three nonviolent activists in Israel and Palestine, will be shown twice in the Ronk Lecture Hall in the Schar College of Education Wednesday, Sept. 22, at 7 and 9 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.

According to film director Jim Hanon, "Little Town of Bethlehem" shows "the struggle to promote equality through nonviolent engagement in the midst of incredible violence that has dehumanized all sides."
