CANCELED “Color of Compromise” author Jemar Tisby to visit AU campus April 1-2

Make no mistake, Jemar Tisby loves the church, even as he says he speaks a painful truth in love to it.

Tisby – the president of The Witness: a Black Christian Collective and co-host of the Pass the Mic podcast – is the author of 2019’s “The Color of Compromise,” an historical survey in which he outlines how American Christianity often compromised and at times was complicit in racism, slavery, and segregation throughout the country’s history.

Ashland University opens new professional development services center to serve Northwest Ohio

Education professionals in Northwest Ohio will be able to stay close to home and still access the professional development services offered by Ashland University, thanks to the opening of the university’s new regional center in Perrysburg Township.

The sixth of AU’s regional centers is now headquartered inside Penta Career Center, a career-technical education high school, located at 9301 Buck Road in Perrysburg Township. AU’s Dr. Wendy Stanley will serve as its director.

Ashland University Alumni Association announces annual recognition awards

THIS EVENT HAS BEEN POSTPONED. The Ashland University Alumni Association will present its annual recognition awards at a luncheon on Saturday, April 18, at 11:30 a.m. at the John C. Myers Convocation Center on the AU campus. The program will feature eight award recipients and is open to all alumni and friends. Reservations are required. Fox News contributor Mollie Hemingway to speak at Ashbrook luncheon on April 22

Fox News contributor Mollie Hemingway will speak at the Ashbrook Center’s Major Issues Lecture Series on Wednesday, April 22 at noon at the John C. Myers Convocation Center, 638 Jefferson St., on the Ashland University campus.

AU Juried Student Art + Design Exhibition opens March 5, continues through March 27

The Ashland University Juried Student Art + Design Exhibition opens on Thursday, March 5, in the Coburn Gallery with a reception from 4:30-6:30 p.m.

This exhibition will offer $950 in awards to student artists, including Best in Show, Honorable Mentions, Bernini Award, Dean’s Award, Alumni “Wink” Award, AU Permanent Collection Award and the People’s Choice Award. The awards ceremony will begin at 5:30 p.m.

AU Coburn Gallery’s focus to turns to color and pastels for Art Saturday on March 28

Ashland University’s Coburn Gallery will host an Art Saturday titled “Explore Color & Pastels through Fauvism” for children ages 7-12 on March 28 from 10:30 a.m. until noon.

The event will guide children through making a vivid and bold landscape with oil pastels. They will learn about artists like Derain and Matisse and see how they chose to represent the world as bright and full of color, even if it's not what they saw through their windows.
