AU Alumnus Rich Ferrari Returns to Give Lecture

Ashland University alumnus Rich Ferrari will be returning to Ashland University in March to give a lecture hosted by the Dauch College of Business and Economics.

“We are delighted to have Rich Ferrari return to campus this semester to present in front of our students and members of the community,” said Dr. Elad Granot, dean of the Dauch College.

Ferrari will be speaking on “The Value of Objectivity” in the Upper Convocation Center on Mar. 14 at 11 a.m. The event is free and open to the public.

Ashland University Dauch College Offers Free Tax Preparation and Electronic Filing

Faculty and students in the Ashland University Dauch College of Business and Economics are offering free tax preparation through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. The program is designed to assist in tax preparation for those who are eligible and allows for free e-file of federal and state returns.

“This is one more way in which the university fulfills its mission to serve our community and to allow our students to grow as scholars, professionals and human beings,” said Dr. Elad Granot, dean of the Dauch College of Business and Economics.

Ashland University’s Accounting Program Ranked as Second Best in Ohio

Ashland University’s accredited degree program in accounting has been ranked as the second best program in Ohio and ranked as a “Best Value for the Money” program in the annual nationwide ranking of U.S. colleges and universities by College Factual.

In addition, the Ashland University accounting program was ranked as the 41st program out of the 601 ranked programs at colleges and universities nationwide.

Ashland University Online Programs Receive National Recognition

Three of Ashland University’s online programs were recognized with high rankings in the prestigious U.S. News and World Report lists for Best Online Programs for 2019.

AU’s Master of Business Administration (MBA) Online Program was ranked as the best private online program in Ohio as well as the 101st ranked program overall nationally among Best Online MBA Programs, while AU’s Online Bachelor’s Programs were rated as the third best private online programs in Ohio and the 173rd ranked programs overall nationally among Best Online Bachelor’s Programs. In addition, AU’s online Graduate Education Program was ranked as the 169th best Online Graduate Education Program in the nation.

Ashland University’s Dauch College of Business and Economics will hold its first lecture in the McKnight Life Calling Lecture Series on Jan. 31 at 7 p.m. in Room 115 of the Dauch College on the AU campus. The lecture is free and open to the public.

This initial lecture of the new series will feature Dr. Bryan Dik, professor of psychology at Colorado State University and also co-founder and Chief Science Officer of JobZology. Dik studies meaning and purpose in the workplace, calling and vocation in career development, and the intersection of faith and work. He has published widely on these topics and is a frequent speaker at conferences, on college campuses, and for organizations.

Ashland University's Winter 2018 Commencement to be Held Dec. 15

Ashland University’s Winter 2018 Commencement will be held on Dec. 15 at 10 a.m. in Kates Gymnasium inside the Physical Education Center on the Ashland University campus. The speaker for the event will be Dr. Steve Fuller, professor of Sociology at the University of Warwick in the United Kingdom. His speech title is “Staying Human in the Twenty-First Century: It’s Harder Than It Sounds.”

No tickets will be required for the event, which is open to the public. The ceremony will be streamed live at www.ashland.edu and broadcast live in the Student Center Eagles’ Nest and the Student Center Auditorium. Faculty and students who are participating in the ceremony are to assemble at 9:15 a.m. in the Conard Field House, located just west of the Physical Education Center.

Ashland University Sport Management Program Adds Initiative with Cleveland Browns

One of the strongest dimensions of Ashland University’s Sport Management program is the large number of experiential learning opportunities available to students and AU has added another program this year that allows students to work with the Cleveland Browns organization.

“Ashland University worked with the Cleveland Browns to develop a salesmanship initiative that starting in the fall of 2018 has provided Sport Management and Marketing students with a unique opportunity to develop skills essential to working in the sports industry,” said Dr. Lance Kaltenbaugh, associate professor of Sport Management at AU. “Through this Browns’ initiative only with Ashland University, students gained relevant sales experience, had one-on-one networking meetings with executives in the Browns organization, and were provided a tour of the Cleveland Browns training facility in Berea, Ohio.”

Ashland University Awarded $50,000 Grant from Burton D. Morgan Foundation

Ashland University has been awarded a $50,000 grant from the Burton D. Morgan Foundation to support entrepreneurial programming in the Burton D. Morgan Center for Entrepreneurial Studies.

Burton D. Morgan Foundation trustees at the September board meeting approved about $1.5 million in grants to promote entrepreneurship and entrepreneurship education for youth, college students and adults across Ohio.

Ashland University to Host Talk on Materials for eWriters

Dr. Asad Khan, chief technical officer of Kent Displays, will speak at Ashland University on the development of materials for eWriters, electronic alternatives to paper as well as other computer display technologies.

The talk, titled “eWriters: Flexible Displays & Electronics – Beyond the Hype and onto Commercialization” is free and open to the public. It is set for Thursday, Oct. 11, at 7:30 p.m. in the Ronk Lecture Hall in the Schar College of Education.
