Ashland University Schar College of Education Receives $249,000 Grant

OH -- The Ashland University Dwight Schar College of Education, the lead U.S. university in collaboration with Georgetown College and Brigham Young University, has been awarded a $249,091 grant from the U.S. Department of Education Office of Postsecondary Education Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education (FIPSE) International Program.

5/14/10 ASHLAND, Ohio --The Ashland University Schar College of Education has been recognized as one of the elite teacher education schools in the country after receiving all positive marks following its continuing accreditation review by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE), the organization responsible for professional accreditation of teacher education.

Ashland University to Host Children's Author and Illustrator

3/16/10 ASHLAND, Ohio --Ashland University will host professional children's author and illustrator Denise Fleming on Tuesday, April 6, at 10 a.m. in the Ronk Lecture Hall in the Dwight Schar College of Education. Fleming's presentation is free and open to the public, however seating is limited.

Fleming has written and illustrated 14 picture books. In 1994, her book, "In a Small, Small Pond," was awarded a Caldecott Honor Award, which is the highest honor in children's literature. There will be a book signing after the presentation.
