Assistant Professor of Marketing
Professor Kristen B. Hovsepian joined Ashland College in 1980 as a part-time instructor. She became full-time in 1981, teaching primarily marketing and management courses. She was granted assistant professorship in 1983, and tenure in 1987. She created the Ashland University business internship program in 1985 and managed the Small Business Institute (then a division of the Small Business Administration) from 1982 until 1989, when the SBA eliminated the SBI as being too productive. At the urging of then-Provost, Dr. Lucille Ford, she started the Ashland University Students In Free Enterprise (now Enactus) program in 1991. Since then the Ashland University SIFE team has taken first place at the Regional competition nine times and has placed second runner-up at Nationals twice.
Prof. Hovsepian is Ph.D., ABD at the University of Akron, holds a master's degree in international management from American Graduate School of International Management (Thunderbird campus), a B.A. in Spanish and international studies from Bowling Green State University, and was certified in Spanish history and literature at the Universidad de Sevilla.
Experience in industry includes working in sales for American Greetings Corp. and creating and running Ohio Book Fairs (now Scholastic Book Fairs). She and her husband run several business concerns in the Ashland area.
