Wendy Hall recently presented her research proposal titled “Toward a Combined Theory of Situation Awareness and Sensemaking” at the Eastern Communication Association’s annual conference in Baltimore, Md. In her theory, a model is introduced that breakdowns the influences of why an individual responded the way he or she did when presented with an unexpected situation. The new theory expands research in expectancy violations as well as crisis response training. She plans to continue her research and test the model this summer.
Hall works in the Career Services Center as the employer relations coordinator and is a student in the Master of Arts in Health and Risk Communication (MAHRC) program. She will be one of five students graduating in the MAHRC's inaugural class on May 14.
