Women's Basketball Secures Spot in National Championship Game

The #1 ranked Ashland University Eagles (36-0) defeated Harding University 90-77 to secure a spot in the NCAA Division II national championship game Friday (March 24) night at 7:00 pm at Ohio Dominican University in Columbus, OH. The Eagles will play Virginia Union University who advanced to the title game by knocking off California Baptist University 86-81.

FREE pregame rally with refreshments set for 5:00 pm on Friday in the Lower Level of the Griffin Student Center (connected to Alumni Hall) at Ohio Dominican University. Make plans to join other Eagles fans as we get ready to cheer on the women's basketball team to a national championship. Let's show everyone what Eagle Nation is all about! 

Tickets for Friday's national championship game can ONLY be purchased at Ohio Dominican University beginning Friday at 6:00 pm. Limit two tickets per person. NOTE: ALL tickets are general admission and stadium seats are permitted. Ticket prices are $10 for adults and $5 for children/college students.

Reserve your space on the fan bus NOW! Cost is $15 per person (game ticket not included) and reservations are required. Please be advised that a seat on the bus DOES NOT GUARANTEE a ticket to the game. Buses will leave campus at 3:30 pm to attend a pregame rally at Ohio Dominican University. Anticipated return to campus is10:30 pm. Fan bus is FREE for AU students – sign up in the Alumni Office in 200 Founders! (Must have AU ID# for each student reserving)

The national championship game can ONLY be viewed on CBS Sports Network. Check your local listing and service provider for channel information.

The game will be shown on campus in Kates Gymnasium on a projection screen. Doors open at 6:30 pm and the concession stand will be open.

In addition to women’s basketball, several AU athletes competed in the DII National Championships in Birmingham, AL. The men’s indoor track team finished second in the nation behind sophomore Myles Pringle's national championship effort in the 400 meter dash with a time of 46.39 seconds. 

The wrestling team finished sixth in the country which included a national championship by senior Michael Labry at 133 lbs. This is the first wrestling individual national champion for AU since 1996.
